This is a summary of planned Zotero releases.
Zotero 1.5: Server sync
June 2008
This version of Zotero will offer users the ability to sync their individual collections with the Zotero Server. Through server syncing, users will have another way to access their Zotero library from multiple locations. In order to support synchronization, this version of Zotero will also facilitate data conflict resolution.
Zotero 1.5 will also offer significant performance improvements over Zotero 1.0.
By this date, a new repository for Zotero styles, translators, and plugins will be introduced. Changes to the Zotero website will allow the user community to submit requests more easily, to find up-to-date information about Zotero extension development, and to become readily involved in developing styles, translators, and plugins.
Dependency: Firefox 3
Zotero 2.0: Server sync with groups
September 2008
Zotero 2.0 will offer users the ability to share collections with others through the Zotero Server. Users will be able to create collaborative groups and share notes and tags along with their bibliographic metadata. Data will be available at different access levels (e.g. read-only).
Zotero 2.1: Recommendation systems
In 2.1, the Zotero Server will offer users a recommendation service for books, articles, and other scholarly resources based on the content in your Zotero library.
Zotero 3.0: Zotero-Internet Archive alliance – the “Zotero Commons”
Timeline under development
Users will be able to drag and drop items into the “Zotero Commons” – a dedicated part of the Internet Archive’s servers – that will be stored in subdirectories of the Commons named for the donors. In addition, this feature will also enable users to identify others who are working with or annotating the same content, fostering new collaboration opportunities.
